Condominium V – Board of Managers

Condo V- October 2026

October marks the height of autumn. For many, it’s a month filled with vibrant colors, cozy sweaters, and the excitement of Halloween. But October symbolizes much more than just changing leaves and spooky decorations. It’s a time of transition, reflection, and preparation for the colder months ahead. October’s name stems from the Latin octo, “eight,” because this was the eighth month of the early Roman calendar. When the Romans converted to a 12-month calendar, the name, October, stuck despite the fact that it’s now the 10th month. Holidays and observances include Columbus Day, 10/12, and Halloween, 10/31.

PROJECTS AND UPCOMING WORK
Current projects are winding down as we come to the end of the warmer construction season and begin the preparation to deal with what winter may bring. During the past year, many projects were completed, including remediation and dehumidification updates in both storage basements, concrete walk replacements and joint repairs, trimming of many trees, and storm drainage system repairs and improvements in several areas. We always take a safety-first approach to projects and prioritize accordingly. Looking forward to the upcoming year, we have been very strict with our proposed budget, so discretionary projects will be limited. However, if you have or see a condition that you think requires attention, please submit a work order and contact Ann Knoth, secretary, via email at frauknoth@optonline.net, and we will review the situation and address it as appropriate.
OCTOBER SMOKE DETECTOR TESTING
Volunteers will be calling homeowners to test their smoke detectors over the phone. If you are not home when they call, they will leave a message for you to call back to conduct the testing. We are aware that everyone has variable schedules, so it may take some calling back and forth, but please stay patient and make the necessary effort until the test is complete and noted by the volunteers. This testing is important and is required by law to be conducted twice a year by the Fire Commissioner of Brookhaven. This law is to protect you and your neighbors.
BOARD SCHEDULE
The Board’s next scheduled meeting will be in April of 2027 due to the coming holidays and slower activities during the winter. However, the board is always in touch via computer and phone to discuss Condo V business, and Secretary Ann Kiss remains in contact with Condo V residents to coordinate any concerns or issues. We will continue to monitor conditions throughout the community and will call a meeting if necessary.
With the school year just starting and Halloween coming up, please remember to drive the speed limit within the community and watch out for children and adults. Enjoy the fall season, visit some farm stands out east, pick some pumpkins and apples, or visit one of the many wineries that have musical entertainment and Oktoberfest celebrations.
